NEW CLASSES!!!!

Intro to Bookmaking:

In this class students will explore three basic styles of Bookmaking that will lay a foundation for future personal projects and upcoming advanced classes. Students will explore how to make ‘instant books/zines’, ‘accordion style’ and ‘stab-stitch books’. You will leave the class with four finished books and a greater understanding of the fundamentals and history of bookmaking.

Intro to Printmaking:

In this class students will explore the basics of ‘Relief’ style printing. The class discusses all that encompasses printing from the design aspect to the actual printing and execution of the piece. We will focus on linocuts specifically within Relief work. Students will leave the class with 2-3 finished pieces printed in editions along with historical knowledge of the medium. This class is for anyone who wants to be introduced to the world of Printmaking.

Mixed media: New Ideas/New Materials:

In this class students will explore new ideas and materials within their own personal body of work. This class explores materials ranging across drawing, painting, printing and collaging while discovering new techniques of mixing them together to create strong mixed media pieces. All levels of students are welcome. Students will leave class with at least 1 large-scale piece finished, a few smaller scale reference works to assist them in future projects and a greater knowledge and understanding of traditional and new mediums. This class is for anyone wishing to learn new techniques, explore mediums unfamiliar to them or students looking to take their personal bodies of work to a new and exciting level!

Materials discussed in class:

Drawing pencils, conte’ crayons, vine charcoal, compressed charcoal, charcoal pencils, India ink, quills, micron pens, pitt pens, watercolor, acrylic, matte medium, collaging materials, pastels, oil painting, etc.

Stamping Workshop:

This workshop shows students how to design, carve and print their own stamps. Students will leave with a hand made stamp along with the knowledge that will allow them to create more stamps on their own in the future. This workshop is for anyone who has ever wanted to learn how to make their own stamp or just wants to have a good time and learn a new project that can be used in the future for card making, stamping, scrapbooking, furniture décor, stenciling on walls, gift tags, creating your own wrapping paper, textile design, etc.
