We are a small Rabbitry, located just west of Atlanta
in Douglasville, Georgia. My son, Noland, wanted to
raise a few rabbits and that began our search for our
first rabbit. We saw a note on the bulletin board at a
local restaurant, "Rabbits For Sale" and off we went
to see what they had. The girl raised pet rabbits and
had a hodge-podge of several breeds. In the mix was a
Tri colored Mini Rex and once we put our hands on him
we were hooked. I then got onto the internet and Googled
Mini Rex Rabbits and up pops "Mini Rex Rabbits For Sale"
in Auburn, Georgia... Senia Phillips. I knew a Senia Phillips
from my days as a horse barn designer and sales rep for
Dumas, Inc. This had to be the same Senia, after all what
were the odds of their being two "Senia Phillips" in the
world much less in Ga. I was right, it was her. We made
arrangements to meet with her and we purchased
several nice rabbits. Senia was a wealth of knowledge
and shared with us freely. She has become our sister
in the rabbit business and a treasured friend. We would
have long since given up on the show circuit if not for
her generosity and help along the way. (Thanks Senia!)
Our next mistake was going to Dalton Georgia to see
what happens at a rabbit show. Wow! What beautiful
rabbits! Senia told us to look for "Brad Edmondson"
when we got there as he is a "Genetics Expert" when
it comes to Mini Rex rabbits and he is one of the top
breeders in the Nation and it will be good for you to
meet him. After wondering around for a while, we
stopped to inquire about a Black Otter and to see if it
was for sale. The man explained that he had just
purchased the little doe and was not interested in
selling her. I asked his name, "Brad" he replied. I
asked, "Brad Edmondson"? "Yes", he replied. I then
introduced myself and Noland to him and explained
how Senia had urged us to look him up. After a bit of
discussion, we bought a Castor buck from him. He also
urged us to come to the next show, in Conyers, Ga. in
two weeks and that is how we began in this endeavor.
Senia was right, Brad is a top breeder of Mini Rex, but
what she didn't tell us was that he is helpful, dedicated
to the Mini Rex breed and a generous competitor, willing
to share his knowledge and his expertise to help others
who are getting started with the Mini Rex breed. Brad is
a valuable and trusted friend. Thanks Brad!
