Recent data from the US Census indicates that Georgia is the fourth fastest-growing state, both in terms of total population and percentage increase.  From 1998 to 2005, Georgia lost almost 1.5 million acres of crop, pasture and forest land -- almost 600 acres per day!

The Georgia Agricultural Land Trust (GALT) is a non-profit group working with land owners to voluntarily preserve Georgia’s most valuable natural resource – agricultural land.  GALT works with landowners to place their properties in permanent conservation, protecting the family farm from development.  Through voluntary preservation of agricultural land, future generations can enjoy the economic, environmental, nutritional and scenic benefits of productive Georgia farmland.
