Turn the Page

September 8, 2008

“Once you make a decision, the Universe conspires to make
it happen.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Once you have read an entire chapter of a book and are at
the bottom of the page, you may be filled with wonder. Now
you turn the page. You can continue to read at the top of
the new page in the same frame of mind, or you can start a
fresh new chapter with a new perspective—a new beginning.

This can be likened to starting a new page in our personal
lives. What may have appeared as a roadblock, a dead end or
a dark night of the soul—a dark tunnel that clouds our
vision—could simply be this: Something or someone has
caused us to stop, ponder, and evaluate our lives. This is
a law of growth in the Universe: In order for growth to
occur, one must choose one way or another—or not choose at
all. Once you turn the page in a book (or your individual
lives) it doesn't mean you are finished! You can either
close the book, or you may choose to re-read for further
understanding of meanings—sometimes more than one.
Transition, again, means a change or passing from one
condition place, thing, activity, or topic to another on
your personal runway. For example, you are in a choir.
The song has changed keys; it went up to C from A. It
moved up. This is a transition, or transformation. Often
in our lives we don’t get the messages we need from the
first transition. Sometimes we repeat the path and have to
learn over and over again. We can thus get an even deeper
meaning of the lessons we are here to learn and grow from
them. Perhaps then we will not need to repeat that
particular journey again. As has been said before, when
our lives move into transition, we may feel uncomfortable
we may not understand what is happening. But change is a
part of life's process. It is the “Law of Growth and
expansion".
You could say a transition or transformation is like
turning the page and starting a new chapter. Stop nursing
and rehearsing your past failures and seeming
interruptions. Keep turning the pages. Daily rewrite your
past and re-script your future. What is the script you
want to act out on the runway of your life? Ponder this
right now. Get out paper and pen, personal computer, or
recording device. See what you want to be and write it out—
right now!
Remember that once you make your decision, the Universe
conspires to make it happen! It's your choice—no one
else's. Your thoughts become things. These concepts are
taught by Dr. Johnnie Colemon, the Founder-Minister of
Christ Universal Temple, in Chicago, Illinois: Your
thoughts shape and mold your life, world and affairs. This
is why you must be careful what you give your attention to;
it will manifest!
Many of us traveling on the runways of our lives face
crossroads, challenges and problems. We wonder, where is
God, which way do I go, and how do I tap into the Mind of
God for answers and directions? Many ask, “How can I get a
clear, precise answer, so that I know my path is directed
by Spirit? Should I leave my marriage, or this job? How do
I make this transition on the runway of my life?”
When I made a choice to end my 21-year marriage, I
experienced many negative emotions and my life took many
turns. I feared the unknown. I had hit a big transition
and many pages were turned, yet many were left unturned.
As I faced the responsibility of being single and having my
five young children to nurture and raise alone, while
taking care of my new home and cars, I wondered every day
how I was to make a living.
At that time, I knew nothing about New Thought or
spiritual living, and I didn't trust my own inner guidance
or the voice of my intuition. I looked outside my inner
kingdom to get the answers I needed. I didn't even know who
Carol S. Batey, single mother/person, was— who it was that
I wanted to establish! I didn't have any boundaries in
dealing with others. As I went along, I attracted the same
types of people into my life, people who were mirrors to my
soul at that time. I was not consciously aware of what was
happening.
I was attracting the same kind of person I was. I didn’t
know what I wanted in my life, and neither did the guys I
dated. However you are as a person, you attract the same
kind of person; they are like a mirror to you. It is
important to be clear on what path to walk in life—your
life. Set clear boundaries when dealing with others in
relationship. The most important relationship you can
establish is one with your God, Spirit, Buddha, Jesus
Christ, Deity, or whatever name you give it. Develop your
relationship with God! In the Holy Bible there's a
Scripture that says, "In all thy ways acknowledge God and
He (Spirit) will direct thy path."
A couple years after my divorce, I ran into a wise sage,
who told me that I should seek out religions like Unity or
Religious Science. I was not ready to do so at that time,
because I wasn't clear about my world and what Carol Batey
wanted to create. I didn't yet fully know my divine
birthright and that I have wisdom, truth, love, faith, and
harmony living within my soul. I didn't know to nurture my
kingdom within. Instead, I sought attention from
outside—not inside—for answers concerning my world. I did
not know that I was the creator of my world, life and
affairs.
Time went by. Then, as I developed a higher consciousness,
moving beyond the roadblocks and stumbling blocks that I
had created for myself, I found Spiritual Living Centers
and attended. I learned that one of the most important
relationships people can develop is with God and with
themselves. The Holy Scriptures clearly state in Matthew
(NKJ), "You must love the Lord your God with all your
heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first
and greatest commandment. The second is like unto it,
‘Love your neighbor as yourself’. The entire law and all
the demands of the prophets are based on these two
commandments.” (Matt: 22:40) The missing link in developing
a personal relationship with God is within your heart, soul
and mind! Along my journey, wisdom from the Beloved Divine
was living within my soul’s walls all along. I just had to
unlock the door to my heart.
You may be asking how I did that. I had to remove my
negative mind-set as to what the past had cost me,
forgiving all those I thought had caused me set-backs and
forgiving myself for not standing in my truth—the truth of
who I was and what I desired. I, not another person,
stopped my own growth. I suppressed my dreams of what I
wanted to do with my career. Even though I was single and
alone, with a plan in motion, I pressed forward one day at
a time to step into my destiny.
Do you realize you were made in God's image? God said,
"Let us make man in our image.” You understand that from
the beginning, God used thought and the spoken word to
bring everything into existence. Likewise, in the image of
God, you can also use thoughts and spoken words to create
your destiny. “As a man thinketh, so is he." Your words
are very powerful and need to be used correctly! They
shape and mold your world, life and affairs. The Bible
clearly states that life and death are in the power of the
tongue.

Moving through transition

Making a transition occurs over and over, just like
turning the pages of a book. Can you welcome new growth
and change? How resilient are you when on your runway?
Are you flexible, able to bend and move easily? My dears,
once you are on the path, where you may meet your Beloved
Divine, it may feel uneasy and uncomfortable—almost as St
John of the Cross coined for St. Teresa: The Dark Nights of
the Soul. Some put up resistance to change. Here is the
meaning of resistance: "To hinder the motion.” The same
passage in the dictionary explains further, "The action of
the ego in preventing the return of consciousness of
unpleasant incidents and experiences.” Consciousness is
an awareness of one’s own existence, of external objects
and conditions. Conscious: “An awareness; a state of being
aware.”
When you feel resistance within yourself, stop, look and
listen. Ask your Higher Power, Consciousness, God, to open
the eyes of your soul's mind and heart; then feel Spirit
breathe life into your cells. So that you hear, feel,
taste and receive from the flow of awareness within you,
walk in a state of being fully conscious.
Are you ready to turn the page? It is not always easy.
Dr. Louise Mallory-Elliott (See mallell@email.msn.com), in
her book Spiritual Consciousness, teaches:
“The spiritual fast track is to meditate frequently upon
your God Self, magnifying its energy in your soul, and
signaling to the soul that you are ready for the quantum
leap in human consciousness. You must simultaneously
master negative thoughts and feelings and develop an
attitude of unlimited potential. You must learn to release
resistance toward anything, offering no judgment,
condemnation or dissatisfaction with any person, nation,
organization, event or circumstance. . . . The more you
fill yourself with higher frequencies of Light, the more
necessary it will be for you to release your personal
darkness, for you will wield more power in all things, for
good or ill, for anger or peace, for sickness or
well-being. Choose your own image for your Christ Self or
God, but meditate upon it continuously. See it walking
over you as you walk.”
Dr. Mallory-Elliott shares that, when going through your
spiritual awakening journey, you may meet problems lasting
a shorter or longer period of time. I share a few of them
here for you:

1. Temporary memory loss
2. Ringing in the ears and strange noise perceptions inside
the brain.
3. Odd energy changes and flow within the body.
4. Inexplicable fatigue on some days.
5. A profound inexplicable loneliness. This signals that
you are approaching a higher level of development in
consciousness as your former "guides, "intuitives”, or
aspects of your soul depart to let you rely on your
strength and power on your own.
6. The "down period". When you are finished with one life
task or momentum and about to begin a new phase, there is a
temporary period when you experience the old energies
winding down, e.g., monies diminish or relationships end.
This can occur before your grasp of the new path is keen
enough to prove to you that you will be more than satisfied
with a new life arrangement. This is a good time to
practice faith and truth and know the down-time for what it
is: an energy-shifting period. Weren't you the one who
asked for a better life, asks Dr. Mallory-Elliott? This is
not a time to be reckless with money, sex, birth control,
etc. Fear can be over-powering in this period. Did you
think you could by-pass the lessons of conquering fear?
Don't you have to master all human ego reactions? Gee, she
continues, what a marvelous time to work on becoming
fearless!

Then turn the pages of your life!
