| Relationship with the Spirit December 2009 Newsletter |
Here we are at the end of another year. As I reflect back on this time last year, I lived in Douglasville, Georgia, where I resided for two years while commuting to work in Tennessee. Living in Georgia taught me to “deepen [my] relationship with [the] Spirit” and give my all to the Spirit. One way that my relationship deepened with the Spirit was by learning to trust in the Spirit and exercise my faith daily. In August 2008, I entered the final process necessary to complete my third book, Poise for the Runway of Your Life, which is now for sale. In this book, I explain how to maintain one’s balance or poise in life. On August 23, 2008, I completed my first modeling job for Elite. I had been in Georgia for one year and was able to land my first job that paid quite well. Our timing is not God’s timing and all things happen in due season. This time last year, I was dating a man who taught me valuable lessons about who I am in a relationship. I learned that I am a giver and that I love to collaborate with a man. Unfortunately, these collaborations do not always play out as an equal partnership for me. This relationship also reminded me that I need to remain true to myself regardless of what the other person does in the relationship. One must live life without any regrets. In order to move forward in your life, you need to be able to grow and learn from the trails and tribulations that you encounter. On November 27, 2008, I was invited to present a workshop at the Living Truth Center in East Cleveland, Ohio. This experience was an awakening for the attendees and me because many of the people at the event wanted to step into their Divine destinies, but were not ready. I thank God for all of my experiences, regardless of how painful or joyful they have been. We are on earth to grow, heal, be inspired and help others. I write about “life lessons learned” so that others may identify with my life, struggles and accomplishments. Can you look within your heart for answers? Today, I live in Tennessee near my son who is a Special Forces soldier. Chapter 11 in my new book focuses on his life. He now lives in Fort Campbell in Kentucky near Tennessee. He was first stationed in Augusta, Georgia and then North Carolina. He was then stationed in Columbus, Georgia. At each of these stations, I always lived within 5 hours of his location. In fact, many times, I brought his daughter from Tennessee to Georgia. Now, we are within 45 minutes of each other. Is that all by chance or destiny? On November 7, 2009, we were on a radio talk show to discuss his past drug usage and how his personal relationship with God helped lead to his ability to kick his eight year drug habit. Now a church has called him to come to speak to the youth of their church. Who is Your Sacred Source? At this point, I would like to ask you how feel about your relationship with the Spirit or your Sacred Source. A few holy names for your Higher Power might be Jesus Christ, God the Father, Saint, Buddha, Allah, Deity or Krishna. Many people attend church or a religious center and do not have a personal relationship with a Higher Power. Often, we feel and see our connection with our Higher Power through another man, woman or child that has come into our life. While these are Holy, magical moments, for me there is only one source, God. Mirror, Mirror on the Wall Think of the Michael Jackson song, The Man in the Mirror. It talks about how you are the only person who can change your life. Are you ready to change? Can you look within your soul and see your soul’s needs? What would your soul tell you if it could talk? Would you pay attention? Often, when our soul speaks we are too busy to listen. When we do not hear or listen to our soul’s demands, we often feel disharmony in our bodies and lives. When we are actively engaged in our spiritual practices (journaling, meditation, silent prayers, relaxation, contemplation, etc.), we are able to empty ourselves of our concerns and focus on the needs of our souls. In order to better allow the Spirit’s white light to surround you and focus your hearing, you may want to light a white candle containing sage oil in order to purify the air. Such moments have often brought about moments of insight for me. For example, recently, I was sitting in silent contemplation, drinking chamomile tea, listening to soothing music and burning a white candle. All at once, a thought came to me to order $300 worth of Poise for the Runway of Your Life. It was noon on a Thursday. I am a massage therapist who never knows how much I will make from one day to the next. By the end of that day, I had made $220. By 11 a.m. the next day, I had earned the rest of the money and was able to purchase the books. I thank God for allowing me the mental capacity, physical health and strength to work in order to accomplish the task of buying the books. St. Teresa of Avila St. Teresa of Avila spoke in the 16th Century, on how our minds are like a “broken horse.” The human mind is like “an unbroken horse that would go anywhere except where you wanted it to.” During meditation, we can retrain our minds to adhere to a deep state of relaxation, which creates an improved mental state. Researchers have found that when we journal, we can improve our immune systems and calm our autonomic systems, heartbeats and respiration. Journaling your thoughts can help relieve stress, which can relax your entire body. As such, if you journal daily, you may gain magical insights to your life. This month, December 2009, is the time to do a “life review” to see where you have been and where you are traveling on your runway. A “life review” occurs when one looks back on his or her life and does an assessment to see what he or she has accomplished. What will you carry into the New Year? What will you leave behind at the end of 2009? I invite you to read my latest book and write a review on Amazon.com or Borders.com. Poise for the Runway of Your Life will help you position and re-position yourself while traveling on your personal runway. Your poise is determined by the successes of your life and your ability to recover from a crisis or transition. It is your season and mine! |
