Women around the world

I am back on the radio! Radio has been waiting for me for many years. As I journey back to Nashville, TN, I realize that this is part of my destiny! A few years before, I helped a local jazz station and a few disc jockeys promote smooth jazz in Nashville. At the beginning of 2009, I was asked to be on an internet radio broadcast with a friend from California. Do you believe that Destiny’s always Calling Your Soul to a divine purpose? It’s up to us to step in faith into the unknown, and to move into trusting God. This writing is “From the stories of my heart,” broadcast on www.Rejoice880.com  (1:30pm central on Fridays).

WNSG Rejoice is heard in Nashville, Tennessee on 880 AM. This station plays Traditional Christian Gospel music. From the first day I returned to the Music City of Nashville, I was in the Black Newspaper. An inspiring writer didn’t know when I would actually return; she took a chance to run the story. Boy, her timing was everything. A former magazine publisher I wrote for is now managing a Christian Gospel Radio Station in Nashville. He saw the article and called for a live interview. On the show, my uncle who’s been in radio for over thirty-five years interviewed me. After the hour-long show was over, my personal phone instantly rang off the hook! People were calling me to get information about my Lifestyle programs.

Because of the favorable response, I called the station and asked if I could return at a later date. My uncle called to share with me that I should host my own show! As he continued to tell me that all I needed was sponsors, the first thing that popped into my head was I just got back to town and who could I get? At that time I was doing massages in my cousin’s gym. I thought, my clients are my sponsors. I offered them a deal that they couldn’t refuse and they took it for the acknowledgments show.

I opened the show with my story because I wanted listeners to know who I am and what my story is. I talked about my dreams, aspirations and goals when I was a child. As most of you know, I wanted to model and work in fashion at age twelve. I knew this to be true for me. This knowledge came from within my inner soul at the core of my being. I also expressed that I thought my dreams were stopped, gone and forgotten. Have you ever felt this way, I asked the listening audience? Then I told about my suppression of my dreams that showed up within my soul, body and mind as fibromyalgia. I just wasn’t living my purpose in my life, world and affairs. I asked again, have you ever felt this way? Then I shared how I made a conscious decision to stop my marriage after twenty-one years. The calls started. People were sharing their fears of not moving forward on their destined path. A few called just to tell me that this calling is my ministry. With that comment, I said, “I didn’t need letters in front of my name to do what God The Almighty wanted me to do with my life. I just say, “YES” and God opens up the way.” My cousin, a personal trainer, gave out information about fitness and getting yourself ready to make a personal and spiritual transformation.
When that first show was over, I received about 10 calls of concerns and well wishing. Several listeners called me to say they wanted to write their life stories. Many of the callers have been molested by their family members. One young lady named Tracy has 3 children by male family members. When she called me, she said that she wanted to write her story. She said, “I can’t spell nor can I use a computer.” My personal testimony is that I can’t spell either and I told her so! My first book “Parents Are Lifesavers,” was hand-written 14 years old because I didn’t know how to use a computer at the time. I didn’t know grammar either.

When I opened my radio show I asked this question. Who Am I? Who Am I? It probably takes a lifetime for each of us to be able to fully answer this question. You truly know who you are a process of discovery that covers the many stages of life. Recognize that you are unique unto yourself. God made only one of you. Claim your true identity as an individual, independent child of God. Do not get caught up or enmeshed with others to the point that you lose yourself. Being a spouse, mother, son, daughter, etc., are roles we assume in life. In these relationships, we work as individuals who are members of a team, but we are not the team itself. Do not get so linked in to your roles that you lose your identity. Discover who you really are.
How well do you know God and yourself? What is your soul’s vision of your journey? How does it look? Have you awakened your spirit to hear your inner voice when it speaks and directs your path? You are the master of your soul. Know that it is you who are in control of it. Learn how to give of yourself. When you give of yourself to others, it always comes back to bless you. “Know yourself; control yourself, and give yourself.” (Catch the Vision, Paul Dunn 1979)
Phyllis Adair Robinson created a poem that I want to share with you. After you have read it, review the last sentence. If it applies to you, think about what it means.

“Who Am I?

First I am a child of God

I am spirit and matter formed physically

Into a woman and a man

I am many faces

I can do many things

I have been a child to experience many overwhelming events from the past

I am a Dreamer whose faith has raised me from my circumstances and survived

I am a sister, friend, wise gentle soul,

Sensitive and caring

I am an artist who has painted many pictures in my mind

And on the canvas of my life and others

I am now a middle-aged soul searching, seeking my special place in existence on this place called Earth.”
