As a man thinketh, so he is
February 17, 2008 Carol S. Batey, Lifestyle Coach February, 2008 Newsletter As a man thinketh, so he is. . . Namasté, Proverbs 23:7 says, “. . . for as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” (NKJV) How's your thinking as we start off this joyous new year? Are you stuck in a negative way, or moving towards your high calling? What have you and God planted in your heart? Is it abundance or lack? Prosperity or I am not doing well at all? Success or failure? Which one can you relate to? In our consciousness (awareness), have we dwelled on the negative emotions that tear our soul’s structure into bits and pieces of doubt? This often leads to some form of disease (dis-ease). As you can see, a person becomes what they think of. Are you an unstable person, living a rocky destiny for your brand new year? Is this what you want to create? The 3rd principle of Unity teachings states: Human beings create their experiences by the activity of their thinking. Everything begins with an idea. Your thoughts are a blueprint of your life. You have absolute control over your actions. (Adapted from The Quest: A Journey of Spiritual Rediscovery, by Richard and Mary-Alice Jafolla) If this principle of Unity is indeed true, then as spiritual beings living a human life, we create our experiences in our world. We must maintain a high vibration to make manifest the blueprint that's for the manifestation of our soul's desires. Many times we must wait on God for renewed strength, as Isaiah states. God's timing is not always ours. However, “. . . in due season we will reap, if we don't faint (or don’t give up)”. (Galatians 6:8). Likewise, Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us, “There us a season, a time for everything under the heavens.” Father Abraham in the Holy Scriptures leaves us an example of hope for traveling on our journey. As described in Hebrews 11:8, he answered God's call in faith, trust, and belief. Off he went into the wilderness, in order to receive an inheritance. As he left, Abraham was following Spirit's promptings. He had no idea where he was being led , but he had faith, trust, and the knowing that, with his determination, all would be shown to him in due season. This is called being steadfast. Ponder this: Do you think Father Abraham could have started on his journey without a total trust in a living loving Spirit for guidance? What is your inherited path? How does that look for you in the second month of 2008? Every idea starts with a thought. All thought is a movement of consciousness. Abraham, the man of God, applied his faith thoughts to travel to a strange place—the "land of promise". He moved his family away from their comfort zone and what they were familiar with at the time. He depended on God in every movement by creating and living a spiritual practice, that is, prayer with listening, meditation, communicating with God, contemplation, and exercising faith. What are you willing to move from to create newness in your life? Do you have your spiritual practice in place to hear from God? May I ask, are you ready to move when Spirit is prompting you? Remember, it's not always a large voice from the sky, or a whisper in your ear. It may just be a simple quickening of your Spirit that says, “Move now this way. Let go of your comforts and trust me now. Look to me from whom all your help and strength come.” Dear ones, it may be just be a still, small voice within your soul saying, “Move from here; try something else.” Can you say, “Not my will, but Thine be done”? As one moves through transition, one must be patient, listen for instruction from God, and be obedient to directions. After traveling for a long time with Abraham, in transition with his children, Isaac and Jacob, and living in tents—not homes—his wife had many doubts about God. She even judged Abraham, he who was so faithful. But, as the Prophet Isaiah states, “They must wait upon the Lord. They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.” Are you tired of trying to find your way alone? Do you desire the strength to continue on your destined path? Then wait, my dear, on the Lord! Sometimes we have to move out of our own way to create what is ours to do. I left Nashville nine months ago, desiring to create my childhood dream. I said Yes to Spirit, not knowing where I was going to live. (I didn't have to live in a tent, though)! My soul was willing and ready for change. I didn't resist it, either. And the plans Spirit worked out for me have been so much better than I could humanly have done for myself! So hold a place for your desires. See them in your mind’s eyes. Do this exercise three times a day in silence and contemplation: Act as if you are already there doing whatever it is you want to achieve! See yourself 30 pounds lesser! Claim that new job and that new soul mate! Be the person you want to attract, and it will open up all things to you. However, seek ye first the kingdom of God, and all things shall be added unto you!
